Do I have to set anything up?

No, you don't have to do anything with our handheld RFID wands or race readers (you must mount antenna with race readers). If you receive a portable handheld RFID reader you can charge it up and start reading. If you purchase a fully automated race reader, once you have the antenna / panel mounted, again you can charge the reader head and start reading immediately.
